NWO as Employer
NWO performs the roles connector, funder and researcher in the Dutch research landscape. Research is carried out by NWO Research Institutes, an independent foundation incorporated under private law (not a governmental organization) fully named the Dutch Scientific Research Institutes or in short: NWO-I. Their 9 institutes employ about 1,700 people, roughly have of which are scientist. You can find more info at the Working at NWO-I pages.
The 'Domain Organisation' NWO-, with approximately 800 employees, is responsible for allocating Resarch Funding. In our offices in The Hague and Utrecht, Dutch is the main language of communication. For this reason, we expect our employees to be proficient in Dutch, written and spoken.
On the Dutch pages of this website, you can find information about our organisation, our areas of expertise, employment conditions, and vacancies.
